Tuesday 17th September
Today we started in Jim's lesson working on Julian Opie's way of working. This included bringing in a image of our self and adding line and colour on illustrator. At first I found it quite hard to understand as I have never used illustrator, but found that the tools are similar to Photoshop. I managed to get all the lines in place around the face, hair, and eyes, nose and mouth.
In Dave's lesson I wrote some notes down on branding and about the Hats, Black hat, Yellow hat, Red hat and White hat. There is also Blue and Green hat, however we don't need to know/ write about these yet. The White hat is all the main information and facts on the product, or in this case the Brand. Black hat is all the bad points on the product, or brand, that doesn't work, doesn't look right, maybe colours that are used, etc. Yellow hat is all the good points on the product, or brand, that works, looks right, the colours that are used, etc. The Red hat is the emotion that the product, or brand, brings, such as feeling happy or sad, or angry, etc. This is very important, especially when designing, because as a Graphic Designer you need to be able to communicate to the audience in a range of ways, such as emotion to get your point across.
I managed to get into the library in the afternoon and print of a range of imagery for the brands that I have chose, which I then got cut out and stuck into my book ready for the white hat, black hat and yellow hat.
